This light, openwork pattern is inspired by peonies in full bloom. Branches and flowers are intertwined with buds and foliage, reminiscent of summer evenings, giving the feeling that you can catch a ray of sunshine through the lines and smell the delicate fragrance of peonies in bloom.
The peony is a flower rooted in ancient China.
Centuries ago, it was considered an imperial flower. In Japan, it became a symbol of longevity and in ancient Greece, the peony was believed to scare away evil spirits.
The author’s hand-drawn design, called Odette, was found in the archival libraries of woodblocks for printing on fabric, carefully restored in our workshops and translated into graphic execution.
The light background on which the design is printed visually resembles unbled cotton, while the petals, leaves and branches of the design mimic the printed pattern. Each line is carefully restored to preserve the handmade method of application, the imperfection giving a special feeling of lightness and naivety.
Odette is the perfect complement to any bedroom, dining room or bathroom.
