AYA signifies a miracle, a wonder, a bird or a melody in different languages and cultures**, and it’s a sight for sore eyes to see flowers of every colour on a miraculous tree with exotic birds in harmony and full of joy. 

The style of this ‘chinoiserie’ design had been known for centuries and originated in the Far East; it was a source of inspiration for French designers. This drawing likely dates from the 18th – 19th centuries in gouache techniques and has now been reconstructed in full detail for our Sansonnet collection. 

This fantastic tree is symbolic, admiringly blooming with Camellias, roses, almond blossom, Glockenspiels, margurittes and even forget-me-nots. 

It’s like being in a magical forest, surrounded by flowers and colourful birds…
